Angelique Pouponneau, 26 years old, from the Seychelles is the Vice-chairperson for Inclusion and Engagement of the Commonwealth Youth Council. Angelique’s responsibility includes membership to the organisation, internal and external events and the inclusion of marginalised groups in the decision-making processes of the CYC and beyond. The focus areas during her tenure have been the inclusion of youth with disabilities, indigenous youth, young women and ‘offline’ rural youth.
She has been spearheading the “I am ABLE” campaign and Commonwealth mentorship programme for young women. Angelique is also passionate about the ocean and existential threats such as climate change so advocates for a greater voice for small island developing States. She is a lawyer by profession and dedicated to advancing youth rights.
