Relationship building with constituents

Meeting with Dominica NYC

While on a personal trip to Dominica, I met with representatives from the NYC, including Akinia Alleyne (ND) and David Thornhill (Chairperson of the NYC), on the progress of the CYC in the region. The meeting was held on July 10, 2019 in Roseau. Representatives of the Dominica NYC were not present at the MoM. Therefore, meeting with them gave me the opportunity to address the concerns that the NYC had with CYC and receive feedback on how the CYC could improve its relationship with the NYC.

Meeting with Trinidad Youth Council

I met with the executive and members of the Trinidad Youth Council on the progress of the CYC in the region. The meeting was held on August 20, 2019, in St. Augustine. Representatives of the Trinidad Youth Council were not present at the MoM. Therefore, meeting with them gave them the opportunity for me to address the concerns that the NYC had with CYC, and receive feedback on how the CYC could improve its relationship with the NYC.

Meeting with Antigua and Barbuda NYC

While attending the IAmAble Conference 2 in (St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, I met with members of the Antigua and Barbuda NYC. The meeting was held on December 4, 2019.

At the meeting I engaged the NYC on the progress of the CYC in the region since the MoM. I addressed concerns that the NYC had with the CYC and received feedback on how the CYC could improve its relationship with the NYC. Although representatives of the Antigua and Barbuda NYC were present at the MoM and had already engaged in this dialogue, meeting with them while in Antigua and Barbuda allowed the entire executive to delve more deeply into the issues that they had and provide more detailed feedback to the CYC. At the meeting, I also discussed ways in which the outcomes of the IAmAble Conference could be implemented in Antigua and Barbuda.
